BIOGRAPHY

Michael Mehas is a writer
and attorney living on California’s Central Coast. His first novel,
STOLEN BOY, has been awarded an IPPY Gold Medal in fiction from
Independent Publisher and voted Best Book of the Year in fiction by
Books-And-Authors.net. It was also selected as one of two national
finalists by the Indie Excellence Awards, while the Public Safety
Writers Association awarded it First Place for Best Novel.
While attending Pepperdine University in the 80’s, Michael performed and
worked for his mentor – independent film legend John Cassavetes – who
gave him the best advice ever for an aspiring writer: “Go get experience
in life to write from.” And so he did. In 1988, Michael obtained his
Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine University School of Law, and the
following year he graduated from the Academy of Justice School of
Advocacy, having learned all aspects of criminal trial preparation,
management, and resolution. He followed this with a stint in the Public
Defender’s office and private practice, trying felony criminal matters,
including a death penalty case in only his third trial.
In the 1990’s, Michael added family law to his legal passion, working
with troubled youth and their embattled families. He also divided his
energies as a screenwriter and freelance journalist, his work published
internationally. In 2003, he co-founded an international news and
feature Internet magazine called The Inquisitor. Later that year
he teamed with writer/director Nick Cassavetes as associate producer of
Alpha Dog, a major motion picture, starring Justin Timberlake,
Bruce Willis, and Sharon Stone.
In between teaching the Yin and Yang of writing at the local college and
counseling consciousness transformation to troubled youngsters and their
parents, Michael has begun work on his next book: FROM ALPHA DOG TO
STOLEN BOY: A TRANSFORMATION IN CONSCIOUSNESS.
