QUOTE OF THE DAY

"The creative process is a process of surrender, not control."

~Julia Cameron

EDITOR'S NOTE

Hello Everyone. I recently fell across the beautiful quote above that seemed to resonate so deeply regarding things going on both in the world as well as in my life.

At first glance the statement appears to be directed at those involved in the arts. But upon closer inspection, it appears to bear meaning toward all aspects of life for those who believe that we possess the inherent ability to manifest what we want.

According to Margot Zaher and Jafree Ozwald, surrender is not about giving up anything. It's a way of freeing ourselves from suffering. It is the gentle release of our ego's constant drive to "get someone better than here now." It is bowing down to the Divine essence with ourselves in the now. Surrender liberates us from our ego and allows us to instantly manifest the joy and happiness in life we so richly deserve. With each new day arises the opportunity to surrender to the Divine within us, to allow the universe to guide us in our decision-making processes.

In this line of thinking, to be in control of our reality, we must first surrender to it. This releases all energetic ego roadblocks that hinder our manifesting abilities. All we have to do is relax and let go, and we can begin to accomplish this by saying, "I now let go of controlling this situation and trust that the Universe will show me the way." The deeper we let go, the more abundance, inner peace, and joy will come rushing into our lives.

If we are not experiencing what it is in life that we want now might be the time to change our approach. The pure joy of letting go of the need to be in control of all aspects of our lives can be a huge relief. By not being so hung up in trying to manage all of our life's situations, our minds will open to bigger manifestation plans that might have been hidden. And this may be just what we need to open up a more abundant inner peace and life filled with greater joys for ourselves and our families.

Much peace and love and happiness to all of you.

THIRD THURSDAYS
March 20th, 7:00 p.m.

The second of six "Third Thursdays" writing seminars staged by fellow Ventura author Patti Kokinos and myself this past month was attended by more than fifty writers who braved the rain and clogged freeways to attend. We hope everyone will join us again at the Bank of Books at 748 E. Main Street in Ventura for this month's joint presentation, entitled, "All About the Self-Publishing Route."

We'll both be sharing our experiences with the self-publishing process and provide you with lots of resources to help you make that determination for yourself. Patti will give an overview of the self-publishing industry, ideas about how different publishers work, and links to their sites. I will be creating a checklist for you and will discuss every step you need to take if you choose to self-publish. For those of you with books squeezing to get out, this promises to be a don't miss night.

On April 17th we will meet again to discuss "Revising, Revising, Revising." On May 15th the topic will be "Getting into Print: Articles, Blogs, Letters, and Critiques," followed by "Jumping into Marketing, 1-2-3" on June 19th. For more information, please call 805.643-3154.

BARNES AND NOBLE BOOK READING FROM STOLEN BOY
March 22nd, 6:00 p.m.

I will be making an appearance to read from Stolen Boy on Saturday, March 22nd, at 6:00 p.m. at the Ventura Barnes & Noble, located at 4820 Telephone Road, Ventura. I will be available for book signing afterwards.

I very much look forward to this event. This will be my first opportunity to read from my book that deals with so many important issues involving the troubled youth in our society. We have a great opportunity to make important changes in the way we live. But we need to invest the time it takes to learn more about what our children's needs really are. My hopes are that Stolen Boy will help to instigate such important change. For further information please call 805.339-0990.
